A teen girl was allegedly sexually assaulted while walking to school in Surrey.
Police are asking students to be vigilant following the June 19 incident, which occurred in the 9400-block of King George Boulevard at 8:20 a.m.
According to police, two men "stepped out of the bushes" and allegedly groped the female while she walking on a path near the local school.
"The youth was able to push the suspects away and run to safety,” says Cpl. Sarbjit Sangha.
There are multiple schools in the area around where the alleged incident took place.
Police officers responded immediately and made patrols.
One of the suspects is being described as a Caucasian man in his mid-20s. He is roughly six-foot tall with blond hair and has goatee just on the tip of his chin. At the time, police say the suspect was wearing a blue shirt with white horizontal stripes and black shorts.
Police do not have a description of the second suspect.
“Surrey RCMP Youth Unit is working closely with our partners at the Surrey School District throughout this investigation,” says Sangha.
"Incidents of groping are a form of sexual assault and Surrey RCMP takes these reports seriously.”
Students are being asked to keep their heads up, remove headphones and limit distractions. Police are suggesting students ask someone to walk with them and carry a whistle or personal safety alarm.
"If a stranger tries to grab you, do everything possible to prevent them from pulling you away. Fight back and do whatever you can to draw the attention of others who can assist,” says Sangha.
Police are continuing to canvas the area to locate the suspects.
Anyone who has information or was in the area between 8 and 8:30 a.m. is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-559-8894.
