Local journalism needs your support

As you have no doubt noticed, Undercurrent's presence on Facebook has disappeared. Meta's decision to block news stories from being shared on their platform not only wiped out our own page, but also the many stories frequently shared to the Everything Else page which created readership (and of course debate) across the island. Following the ban, the social media discourse has dropped dramatically.

This has been a blow, but it’s also led us to adapt. Our newsletter popularity has increased significantly since Meta’s decision, and is now delivered twice a week (for free!) to your inbox when you sign up.

Your financial help ensures we can keep providing news and community coverage all around the island, from council meetings to craft fairs, our baseball leagues and school activities, and of course your many wonderful stories, letters and photos which make this paper possible in the first place.

Thank you for your continued support of the Undercurrent every day. See you around the island!
