One-lane traffic westbound along Bowen Island Trunk Road may finally be coming to an end this month.
The municipality released an update last week that work on the road should be finished by Oct. 28. The curb lane has been closed since mid-June when a sinkhole was discovered under the road. The timeline for reopening given then was several weeks, which has now become four months.
The revised schedule is now a little over two weeks away. Curb work will start Tuesday, Oct. 11 and wrap up by Oct. 20. Paving will then take place and is expected to be complete by Oct. 28.
The road work will be combined with finishing off Phase 3 of the Multi-Use Path (MUP) along this stretch of Trunk Road. Construction of Phase 4 should begin sometime next year, and be completed in 2024.
Phase 4 of the MUP is planned to run from the end of Phase 3 at Artisan Lane to the Grafton Lake dam.
