Bowen Rec is thrilled to once again offer summer camps venturing off the rock, after a two-year hiatus due to pandemic precautions. This July and August, your 9-12 year-olds will be exploring canyons, gardens, galleries, aquariums, museums, and more with a team of amazing leaders and volunteers.
Each week brings a new camp theme complete with a world of activities, games, and adventures built around it – from art & nature to sport & science, and everything in between. For full camp details and registration, visit www.bowenrecreation.com. Camps for 5-8 year-olds are full, but the older kids’ camps have some spaces left!
For older youth, the Summer Camp Leaders In Training (LIT) program for 12-17 year-olds is accepting applications until June 20. LITs will receive valuable training and experience in supporting campers and camp staff, both on and off the island. And yes, all LITs receive verified volunteer hours for their school requirements, and can request a reference letter to help boost resumes, scholarship portfolios, or other volunteer applications.
You can find out more about the LIT program at www.bowenrecreation.com/lit-2022
The 2022 Summer Camp Staff team is a dynamic crew of amazing, caring, and inspiring Bowen youth: Hudson Stiver, Oliver Hedzelek, Ayden Kinakin, and MeiMei Szeto. Your kids will remember Ayden and MeiMei from previous spring and summer camps with Rec, and they may know Hudson from his days as a Rec camp LIT or as a BIFC soccer coach!
Oliver is new to Bowen and to the camp team this year, bringing his previous experience as a camp leader and a music tutor to this role. Along with this year’s LITs, they are sure to deliver one awesome summer.
All of us at Bowen Rec wish you a summer as full of adventure, discovery, and play as ours will be – and we hope you’ll visit that registration page before it fills up!
