Police in Abbotsford confirm an explosion that people heard and felt on Thursday was due to blasting.
The blasting was taking place in the gravel pits on Sumas Mountain.
There are no injuries or reports of damage to properties from the explosion.

A mysterious loud explosion might have been caused by blasting in Abbotsford.
Sgt. Paul Walker with Abbotsford Police Department says officers are investigating.
"We believe it's associated to blasting occurring on Sumas Mountain at one of the gravel pit operators,” he says.

Police are investigating a loud explosion that was heard and felt in Abbotsford on Thursday morning.
The loud noise was heard in the McKee neighbourhood just after 10 a.m.
Many people took to social media saying they felt the shake or heard the sound.
“The whole house shook and was loud. I thought a tree or something big came crashing down,” writes Harriet Victoria Baker.
A person who lives on Applewood Drive and another resident on Ledgeview Drive also said their house shook around 10 a.m.
“I live up in Whatcom and in the shower. Thought it was thunder,” says Norma Chiswell.
Another person who lives near Bassano Terrace says the explosion rattled their windows.
“It was bizarre,” says Machella Ory. "The whole house shook and the sound was SO loud, it also felt like a sonic boom."
