Metro Vancouver weather: Showers possible on Easter long weekend after sunny streak

Plan your egg hunts accordingly.

The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes steadily increasing temperatures, but the weekend may see some showers.

In a previous interview, Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Erven said a ridge of high pressure would keep conditions warm and dry through the week.

For Wednesday, April 16, the Downtown Centre Weatherhood station shows a high of 16 C with a "clear, cloudless sky" and an overnight low of 7 C. Highs of 15 C and 17 C are expected on Thursday and Friday, respectively (see slide 2).

Other parts of the Lower Mainland are expected to see similar conditions, although some inland areas may see warmer temperatures. For example, Burnaby West is expected to see a high of 19 on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 20 C on Friday.

Some neighbourhoods have consistent temperatures, such as Surrey City Centre, which is expected to reach a high of 17 C daily on Wednesday through Friday.

Temperatures in Abbotsford are expected to climb up to 19 C by Friday.

The Metro Vancouver weather forecast includes a shift to showers

The Easter long weekend may not be as sunny as previously expected. While the seven-day forecast doesn't indicate any significant storms, showery weather is expected on Saturday and Sunday. However, Good Friday, the provincial holiday, is expected to be dry.

A 17 per cent chance of showers is expected in Downtown Vancouver on Saturday, while Sunday's forecast shows a 42 per cent chance of showers. Temperatures are also expected to be slightly cooler, dropping to highs of 13 C and 11 C, respectively.

Heading into next week, drier conditions are expected on Monday and Tuesday, although temperatures aren't expected to rise.
