Ground search for missing B.C. grandmother ends with no sign of her

Police are continuing to follow up on tips and the ground search for her is completed.

Search and rescue members have wrapped up operations in their search for a missing grandmother after her car was found abandoned on a washed out road near Harrison Lake earlier this week.

Jane Whitehouse, 82, was reported missing on Oct. 25. The last time she was seen was at 10:10 a.m. in Aldergrove, B.C.

On Sunday, the woman's grey Dodge Grand Caravan (license plate CP6 01A) was found abandoned on a forest service road 150 kilometres from where she was last seen.

A man who was in the area at the time came across her vehicle on Harrison East Forest Service Road, which runs along the east side of Harrison Lake.

He called the police and the search for the woman began.

Kent Harrison Search and Rescue and Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue members spent three days searching for any sign her of her. Both of the woman's shoes were found in the area, but crews could not locate the Whitehouse.

Langley RCMP Cpl. Craig van Herk confirmed the ground search wrapped up on Wednesday, but that the police investigation is still "very much" ongoing and active.

"We are very much still following up on every bit of information, tips and video we receive,” said van Herk.

Police released a photo of Whitehouse captured by a surveillance camera. It shows her wearing a green jacket.

"We continue to call on the public to assist as we are hopeful someone has seen her or has information that can help,” van Herk said.

Anyone who has information about Whitehouse is asked to contact police.
