Police believe alcohol contributed to a fatal collision in Abbotsford on Tuesday.

Abbotsford police officers responded to a serious, three-vehicle collision at 8:17 a.m. at the intersection of George Ferguson Way and Bourquin Crescent West.

One of the drivers suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say a 55-year-old driver of the “offending” vehicle remained at the scene.

“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision,” says Sgt. Paul Walker in a media release.

All of the other people involved sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the collision is in the early stages and police are appealing to the public for witnesses.
