BC Hydro says its crews have worked around the clock since Friday night, restoring power to 98 per cent of the homes impacted.

After Friday's storm knocked out power to 330,000 homes across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, crews have restored power to almost all of them.

In a Sunday morning update, BC Hydro says its crews have worked around the clock since Friday night, restoring power to 98 per cent of the homes impacted.

Work has included replacing dozens of spans of power lines as well as power poles, transformers and cross arms.

”Crews will continue to work throughout the day and BC Hydro expects to have all remaining customers restored today – with the possible exception of small pockets of customers in remote areas with significant damage or that have been difficult to access,” BC Hydro says.

Heavy winds across the South Coast of B.C. Friday night took down many trees and branches across the region, with many hitting power infrastructure.

Heavy snow caused most of the problems in the Okanagan Friday, with several broken branches striking power lines and causing temporary outages.
