A Vancouver man first charged with shoplifting is back behind bars as he now faces robbery and weapons charges.

Vancouver Provincial Court Judge Joseph Galati Oct. 30 adjourned Samir Aissani’s charges to Nov. 13 in order for the man to talk with lawyer Guillaume Garih.

The allegations before the court start with a July 9 incident where it is alleged Aissani stole merchandise under a value of $5,000 from a Richmond Superstore.

Aissani is also charged with theft under $5,000 in connection with an Aug. 14 incident at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver.

Then, there’s another allegation of theft under $5,000 in connection with a Richmond Shoppers Drug Mart Aug. 19 incident.

Aissani got bail on those charges and was not in custody.

Now, he faces a further four charges all alleged to have occurred Oct. 21.

He is charged with a robbery of one man, carrying an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose or to commit an offence, assault while having a weapon and using an imitation firearm while attempting to flee police after having allegedly committed a robbery.

Crown prosecutor Jennifer Carmichael told Galati she had spoken with Garih and agreed to a one week adjournment to discuss various matters.

The case returns to court Nov. 5.
