HALIFAX — Nova Scotia’s three main political leaders are set to meet later today for their third debate ahead of Tuesday’s provincial election.

Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Houston, NDP Leader Claudia Chender and Liberal Leader Zach Churchill are to take part in a roundtable discussion hosted by CTV News.

The 90-minute exchange is scheduled to be televised at 6:30 p.m. local time and will be moderated by CTV News anchor Todd Battis.

Earlier in the day, Churchill held a news conference to announce what a Liberal government would do during its first 100 days in office.

Aside from measures already spelled out in the party's platform, Churchill says the Liberals would call for a meeting of the four Atlantic premiers to discuss the possibility of replacing the federal carbon tax with a region-wide cap-and-trade system.

Churchill says it appears that newly elected New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt is interested in the idea, which leads him to believe there's room to persuade the governments of Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
