A few weeks ago, the Undercurrent brought readers the images of an eagle attempting to grab a furry otter snack from the ocean.
The bald eagle wasn't successful in its predation, flying off to find an easier lunch.

Mt. Gardner neighbourhood resident Charles McNeill took note of the featured photos and then was so surprised last week to look out his window to see an otter on the other side of the talons (or rather non-retractile claws).

Acquatic wildlife – such as fish, crabs, frogs, reptiles, birds – and sometimes acquatic plants and small mammals make up the Lontra canadensis's diet according to the National Wildlife Federation.

The carnivorous semi-aquatic mammal removed the large crab's legs first, leg by leg.

Before digging into the creature's meaty centre.

The otter even had to stave off a curious corvid that was intent on getting in on the crabby snack.

Very neat!
