The preliminary results of the community vote about the national park are in and the majority of voters have said no. Of the total of 1990 votes, 901 were a yes and 1089 were a no. Due to this response and council's commitment to listen to the public, discussions with Parks Canada about creating a national park reserve on Bowen Island will come to a halt. With a difference of 188 vote, the opponents of the national parks initiative have won the day.
