You may have noticed some new signs on the conservation lands at Cape Roger Curtis, acquired by the Bowen Island Conservancy at the end of October.

We’ve replaced the previous signs barring public access with more welcoming Conservancy designs that remind everyone that the lands are open again for access by the marked trails and driveways. It’s an important step in the process of taking over management of the area and putting the Conservancy’s footprint in place.

Work on the new signs has been spearheaded by Allie Drake (pictured), a Conservancy Director who looks after all of our sign needs. If you have visited the Wild Coast Nature Refuge you will have seen her handiwork, from the large welcome sign at the entrance, to the smaller trail markers inside the Refuge.

Allie spearheads design work, arranges production, and coordinates installation of our signs with a team of enthusiastic volunteers. It’s a lot of work and Allie is one of the people working behind the scenes to make it all happen!

Please remember that camping and fires are prohibited on the conservation lands, and there is no motorized access by dirt bikes or vehicles. Visit the Conservancy website if you have questions about the area, https://bowenislandconservancy.org
