A dozen sailings between Bowen and the mainland have been cancelled Sunday, December 18.
A service notice from BC Ferries late Sunday morning said the Queen of Capilano does not have the required staff to run the afternoon and evening sailings. It's the second time in just over two weeks the route has suffered at least 12 cancellations, after 14 sailings were wiped out for the same reason on Friday, December 2.
The last boat to leave Horseshoe Bay for Bowen Island before the cancellations will be at 2:20 pm, and the final boat to depart from Snug Cove will be at 2:55 pm. According to the BC Ferries site, the 10 pm sailing from the mainland and 10:30 pm sailing leaving Bowen are still scheduled to run.
In an afternoon update, BC Ferries says a 40 person water taxi will be available to transfer foot passengers between the two destinations. It will follow the same schedule as the original sailings, and be free of charge.
