Three homes sold on Bowen last month, all just eclipsing the $1 million mark at closing.
The top sale of September sits on Cates Hill at 945 Rivendell Drive. The half-duplex rancher with three bedrooms and three bathrooms sold for $1.149 million. The 1,468 square foot home, which is just seven years old, also includes a basement and sits on 0.16 acres of land.
The home features a south-facing deck ensuring a healthy amount of sunlight. The deck can also be accessed from the main bedroom. For those looking to spend some shadier time outdoors, the front of the house has a small covered patio.
September’s second-highest sale was across island at 1478 Tunstall Boulevard, where the two-storey home with two beds and two baths closed for $1.09 million. Similarly sized at 1,492 square feet, the 36 year old home resides on 0.81 acres of space.
The home itself is an Austrian inspired design, with wood floors and framing a feature throughout. Both bedrooms are located on the main level along with a studio which could be converted into a third one. The backyard has a sundeck and falls back onto a forest and creek which are easy to access.
And back on the east side of Bowen was the third sale, a three bed, three bath home at 1105 Miller Road for $1.025 million. The two-storey home is the largest of the bunch at 2,103 square feet, on a property measuring 0.22 acres.
The 1979 build features an interior highly reminiscent of its era. Two bedrooms sit upstairs and one downstairs – along with a lower level rec room – with both the upstairs and downstairs accessible from outside. There are plenty of places to walk to as the house sits across the street from Crippen Park and a short stroll from Killarney Creek.
Doing a bit of island hopping, over on Keats Island a four bed, two bath home at 409 Gavin Road sold for $735,000. The 37 year old home totals 1,025 square feet and is located on a 0.2 acre lot.
The home comes fully furnished and winterized, and outside features a deck measuring over 800 square feet. About a five minute walk away is one of Keats’ east side beaches and docks.
September also saw a rare sale on Bowyer Island to Bowen’s east. Lot 1 of Kildare Estates and its five bedroom, one bath cabin closed for $790,000. The main house is 1,820 square feet and there’s an additional guest house totalling 440 square feet.
Described as a recreational home, the cabin sits directly on the waterfront of Bowyer’s west side and offers beach access and boat launching. Ecological features include solar panels and a rainwater catchment. The property is part of a nearly 20-person co-op on the island.
